Iran sentences 31 so-called ‘troublemakers’ to death

The head of the State Security Forces Moral Security Police said that 31 troublemakers in the country, with the exception of Tehran, were sentenced to death.

“According to the research that was carried out from 4,800 troublemakers that were arrested in the initial stages of the plan to round up [troublemakers], 5 percent of these people were between the ages of 14 to 17 and 53 percent were between the ages of 17 to 23”, he said.

“Thirty percent of these suspects were sentenced to long prison terms”, Ahmad Rouzbahani added. (Aftab state-run website – Jul. 5, 2011)
