Driver beaten and arrested for protesting against Parliament speaker

The Mazandaran Intelligence Agency arrested a protester in Babol in the Commemoration Congress of Martyrs ceremony in this town.

According to reports, a man identified as Ali Abdi was arrested by the Intelligence Agency after protesting while Parliament speaker Ali Larijani was giving a speech.

He was beaten by security forces stationed in the hall and was then arrested. There are no reports on his whereabouts.

Abdi worked as a driver and was beaten for protesting about his dire living conditions and poverty. (Human Rights Activists in Iran – Feb. 13, 2011)
