Iranian regime judiciary official says “proud of” inhumane amputation sentences

A judiciary official of the Iranian regime has proclaimed that he takes “pride in ‎implementing amputation sentences,” according to Daneshjou News this week.‎

Ebrahim Raeesi, the First Deputy of the mullahs’ Judiciary, said, “When a sentence ‎becomes final by the judge about cutting off a hand, it must be implemented.”‎

He added, “Sentences for amputating hands were implemented in the past and are not ‎only carried out today.”‎

In 1988, Raeesi was a part of a three-member “death committee” when the regime carried ‎out a massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in the span of a few months, most of whom ‎were supporters of the main opposition, People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran ‎‎(PMOI/MEK).

A prisoner in the Central Orumieh Prison was sentenced to the inhumane sentence of amputation by branch 102 of the Public Orumieh Court. According to reports, the sentence for the amputation of four right hand fingers of Seifoddin Salehi from Baneh on charges of armed robbery was issued. This 60 year old prison has been detained in the Orumieh Central Prison for three years now. (Human Rights Activists in Iran – Oct. 31, 2010)
